PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2010 -After a great amount of work from Nathan Waters with fitness and injury managment, Paul Johnson with his learning curve ever continuing on management, Paul Daly and myself trying to keep training as interesting as possible and putting our best team available on the park week in week out, and a huge effort and show of fighting Brothers spirit from an amazing bunch of players, the Premier League has finally knocked an 8 year premiership drought squarely on the head. We went to Burt St knowing full well that we have been belted mid year at home by this team and that if we came with our game face on we could wrap the premiership up then and there. That itself would be a huge burden to carry into any match. On top of this was the pressure that we have lead this compitition from week one and to falter now would be a tragedy. This alone could have been too much for week minds but we went out there knowing exactly what was at stake and went and took our prize with great heart, pride and effort. We had some great moments in a very wet encounter. Paul Sapelli, Kyle Whebel and Josh West were not going to let niggling and in some cases, debilitating injuries stop them from playing in the match to seal our first premiership in 8 years. We ended the game 3 - 1 victors with an own goal and 2 other goals, one to Alex Bennett and one to Jono Bagley.
We now look toward the final series, where we will face Pics again at least once more and look to lift our intensity and our overall play to the next level. If we can do this we should be right to go on October 9th to give the Cairns champions a real good run for thier money in the Crad Evans trophy game. Agreat effort to this point by all involved and now lets lift and power on to greater heights for 2010. Go the FISH!!!!!! Jeff Turner Coach/President |
